What do we need to bring?
Food, clothes and a camera and a sense of adventure.  Your cottage has everything else.

Do you have reduced tariffs for longer stays?
Yes, reduced tariffs apply for all stays over 3 nights – if this is you, then please contact us directly instead of using our booking system.

How far is the lake?
Less than 1km away.  About a 1 minute drive.

Is there somewhere we can buy a meal?
Yes, there are two restaurants and a hotel all within a couple of minutes drive.

Is there somewhere we can buy groceries?
Yes, there is a small general store in Manapouri near the restaurants and two large supermarkets in Te Anau about 20 minutes away.

How far away is the departure point for Doubtful sound?
Just a two minute drive.

Is there anywhere close we can go for walks?
Yes, anything from a 10 minute walk up to a full day.

Should we drive to Milford Sound and how long does it take?
Absolutely.  No visit to Fiordland is complete without going to Milford.  It takes about two and a half hours to drive there, but you should leave early and allow all day.  It is fabulous and you will need to stop often for photo opportunities and short walks.

If we go on the overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound, will you hold our room or us?
Yes.  You can keep your room if you are coming back to us.  We charge $60 for this service but it does enable you to store luggage that you don’t need to take on the boat with you.

Can we go Kayaking on the lake on the Sounds?

Yes, local operators take parties for a full day kayaking on Doubtful Sound or you can hire a kayak for a day to kayak on the lake.

Are the cottages serviced each day and what does that consist of?
Yes.  Your cottage is serviced daily, however some people are happy to look after themselves, just let us know.  Service consists of replenishing complimentary tea/coffee, sugar, laundry detergent, etc, bathroom wiped out and fresh towels if required.  Recycling and rubbish will also be collected.

Can you store vehicles & luggage?
Yes, we have a large lock up storage facility and are happy to store your equipment at no charge.
